There are many people on this platform way more qualified to provide advice on improving your writing craft and attaining success here on Medium.
With that admission though, I want to talk about just taking baby steps towards a goal. I’ll refer to my Medium profile for illustration.
When I first started on Medium, I had the normal trepidation about publishing my first article. Once I hit publish on it, the trepidation with publishing 2nd, 3rd, 4th… articles gradually lessened and is very low now. I’m confident in writing up a post, reviewing it, and publishing. I’ve currently got about 28 articles up with more to be put out.
I was also very hesitant about commenting on other writers’ articles. However, once I started doing it, I eventually became quite comfortable commenting. (Maybe too comfortable. A couple of times I wrote near articles in the comments section!)
I currently have 280+ followers (not stellar but that’s a long way from 0 followers). Excited to keep seeing this number rise as I publish more content and interact with other writers’ content.
I thought about submitting to a publication but decided not to. I’d rather develop the ability to self promote my content. To be perfectly honest too, I don’t feel like altering my articles to meet external guidelines or wait for…
